Our Seafood Store Associates are devoted to ensuring proper presentation of our seafood along with providing a smile, greeting and assisting customers who visit the Seafood Section. Filling and rotating our Seafood products to ensure that is organized to meet the overall appearance of the Seafood section of the store. This is not a supervisory position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES (responsibilities include, but are not limited to)
Organizes and stocks seafood display coolers per store’s layouts, planograms and standards
Setting up and maintaining the condition of the Seafood Section according to company standards
Ensures seafood is handled, stocked, rotate and merchandised
Checks product temperature to ensure freshness and quality
Ability to maintain a knife grip in order to cut fish or other seafood to specification
Ability to weigh, price, label, organize and rotate fish products per Marukai’ standards
Proactively supports any promotional activity within the store and contributes to an effective working environment
Separating seafood for sales floor, cooler and/or back room prep area
Processing and/or wrapping seafood items prior to filling designated areas
Operating pallet jack, scissor lift, baler, compactor and scrub machine
Maintains a well-organized back stock/cooler area
Ensures that all seafood products are in its right place, so shoppers can find what they need quickly and easily
Maintains good communication with store management, associates and suppliers/vendors
Serves as a backup for stocking in other departments as needed
Attends department and all store meetings, as assigned or needed
Adjusts product mix to meet customer service, sales, margin and inventory turn goals
Participates in periodic price comparisons with competitors
Oversees and check deliveries for damage, quality and accuracy, notify Merchandise Development Manager and Store Manager of discrepancies
Providing premier customer service, including greeting them and responding to questions
Engaging in suggestive selling and other sales techniques
Exceeds Seafood Department’s sales goals assigned through the efficient execution of Company policies and procedures
Notifies immediate supervisor of out of stock products
Notifies immediate supervisor of price discrepancies
Must be knowledgeable of merchandise placement and location
Verifying ads, hanging current sale signs, and removing out-of-date sale signs
Ensures proper pricing and signing of products
Maintains cleanliness of work area, storage area, and selling floor
Ensures a safe and secure work environment

This position will require you to perform additional tasks to assist overall store operations, up to and not limited to, cashier duties, ordering supplies, etc
Safety, Loss Prevention and Procedural Compliance:
Follows Company guidelines for managing confidential information, customer satisfaction and supervising store personnel
Follow safety practices such as: washing hands, using a pair of gloves, wearing a clean uniform per shift, no jewelry to be worn at any time, wear hair covering, trim and clean fingernails often
Under the direction of immediate supervisor, administers IIPP Procedures, Safety Program and Procedures
Assists immediate supervisor in Loss Prevention in curbing internal and external theft
Ensures satisfactory maintenance, appearance and condition of assigned facilities to comply with security, safety and environmental codes and ordinances
Enforces compliance with all local, state, federal regulations and company policy pertaining to safety and loss prevention
Complies with all Health Compliance and Food Regulations
Complies with all OSHA requirements
The required qualifications are as follows:
You must be 18 or older to use sharp knives, use ladders, scaffolds or their substitutes above 6 feet in height, and to operate or assist in operating power-driven machinery or equipment
Must be able to use job related equipment such as slicer, scale, saw, knife and wrapper
Must be able to operate pallet jack, scissor lift, baler, compactor and scrub machine
Possess a food handling license or the ability to acquire one
Able to deliver friendly, courteous, prompt customer service
Able to read, write, and do simple math problems
Able to interpret, understand and follow instructions
Ability to effectively communicate and respond to questions from the general public and management
Ability to interact with all levels of management
High School diploma or GED preferred, but not required
No experience required, but prefer a minimum of 1-3 years of work experience in a similar work environment
Customer service experience in a similar or comparable work environment, strong work ethic supported by a pleasant and positive attitude of “can do” success
Seafood Store Associate’s duties are performed primarily in the prep and freezer area. A Seafood Store Associate may be exposed to various temperature changes and work environments. Ability to withstand for long periods a working environment of 45°F or more. Work includes eye-hand coordination, repetitive arm and hand movements, safe use of slicer, scale, saw, knife and wrapper, along with frequent interaction with customers and other associates. Noise level is moderate to loud.

Ability to frequently reach, lift, stack and maneuver objects of varying dimensions and weights up to approximately 100 lbs. with a lifting aid. And up to 20 lbs. without aid. Ability to push and pull fully loaded hand trucks.
Ability to stand for long periods of time, walk and move rapidly, bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently. Manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination are necessary. Must be able to operate related equipment such as knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks and hand trucks.
Mental alertness is necessary to ensure safe and accurate completion of work activities. Requires knowledge of basic math, weights and measures. Ability to learn section policies and procedures.
Exposure to potential hazards exists with respect to equipment and work aides necessary to perform job duties. Hands are in frequent contact with water and various fruits and vegetables while performing job duties.
