Bring your family and friends for a Japanese cultural tradition that inspires many from the temple and the community to join in each year.

 For those of you mochitsuki veterans the temple welcomes your continued support. For first-timers, you may observe the production process. Then, you will be expected to jump right in. Do not worry about technique, the vets will guide you along.

 Mochitsuki has been part of the Japanese culture for centuries. For over 35 years, BTSD has blended the traditional and modern methods of producing mochi (sweet rice cakes). 

By noticing the smiles on the many faces, you will see that mochitsuki is a rewarding event. It brings together the BTSD family and friends of all ages for a day of rekindling friendships, while producing the small circular morsels ready for the New Year (check out the temple’s web site for photos from past mochitsuki events).
