- LA Opera (Hiroko Yoshinaga )
- Hiroko Yoshinaga, was born and raised in Japan. When she was twenty
years old, she moved to San Diego, CA. Then, she has begun studying and
singing in opera. She started as a mezzo-soprano; such roles in Cherbino
from Le Nozze di Figaro, and Carmen. Now, she sings as a spint-soprano;
such as Madame Butterfly and Turandot.
She has sung with Opera San Jose, Los Angeles Opera, San Diego Opera, San Diego Lyric Opera, Small Opera of San Diego, San Diego State University Opera Theater, San Francisco Conservatory Opera, Bay Area Summer Opera Training Institute, and American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria.
- Kaguya Chorus
- Japanese Chorus Kaguya of San Diego is a group of individuals who
love to sing Japanese songs. The group aims for musical improvement
while maintaining harmony of both voices and hearts. Their repertoire
includes hundred-year old classical songs as well as modern songs from
current Japan. The motto of the group is that each one offers hands to
the well-being of the group and others in the community.
Music Director and Conductor, Mariko Kanamitsu, is a professional singer and a voice teacher, and has many years of experience in leading various chorus groups in Japan and the United States. The Accompanist, Mizue Shapiro, is an accomplished pianist, a composer, and also has years of experience educating piano students. The group offers concerts to the local community, not limited to the Japanese community.
